contact lens prescription

by Reynauld, Nov 03, 2007 09:53AM
I have a new prescription for my contact lenses. The only thing that has changed is the power. Through my eyedoctor I ordered my old ones, now I'd like to order through the internet, which is cheaper. I have lenses with a blue tint and on the ordering page they ask after "Tint - yes or no":  "Dot - yes or no". What is Dot and should I put yes or no?

You will have to figure that out yourself, I can't advise on your contact specs.

Try calling the 800 number on the website.  The service rep should be able to advise you about the questions you've raised.  (If the site doesn't have a helpful service rep, then try ordering from another site that does.)

Most of the time, the "dot" is reserved for RGP or Hard Contacts.  They are used to help determine the right or left lens, and are not needed for soft.  The same is for the tinting as well.  Most soft lenses are tinted or clear as determined by the manufacturer and can not requested unless it is a "colored" lens.  The internet companies must fill the prescription exactly as written, just like if it was a prescription for a drug, and by law must verify the prescription with the prescribing doctor.
