so i just started using the oasys lenses, one toric for astygmatism and one regular. they make my eyes very dry and they dont improve my vision much at all. i can see much better with my glasses. what could the problem be? i even went back to my eye doctor and he changed my prescription, but it didnt help. should i try a different brand maybe?

Dear lms18,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD.  Sometimes, contact lenses for astigmatism may not produce the quality of vision that you have in glasses as the contact lenses may rotate.

I have these same contact lenses and find them comfortable. However I did develop a corneal ulcer wearing them and now use a hydrogen peroxide based cleaning system. I have tried other lenses and find them less comfortable, so I think it is wise to try a different brand of lens that may be just right for you. I have one toric lens as well and find it less comfortable than my non toric lens. Also toric lenses have different axis and may need adjusting as well. Good luck.

I've had much better success getting good vision with contacts prescribed by an eye care provider who specializes in fitting contacts (usually an optometrist).  Based on the info you posted, it's not clear what your problem(s) is (are).  Some brands of toric contacts tend to rotate more than others.  Some brands are better for dry eyes.  (My favorite contacts are 1-Day Acuvue Moist, which never dry out my eyes.)  Perhaps you'd see better with lenses in a different power.  I think your best bet would be to get a second opinion from another doctor.  (Before I had cataract surgery, I could see better with my toric contacts than with my glasses, so I suspect that your vision with contacts can be improved.)
