corneal abrasion

corneal abrasion

I know there are similar questions, but not quite specific enough. I got a corneal abrasion 10 days ago. The pain was gone in about 3 days, I used the antibiotics for a week. I can focus on things with in about a foot of my face, but not far away and when I look at lights, they appear to be smeared.  (actually as 3 dots connected by a smear)

I had gone to the ER for treatment since I knew it was bad right away. However my insurance is being funky and I don't know if they will cover an opthamoligist and money is tight.

Should I be worried yet? It seems to be getting better each day, but throughout the day I have to cover or close the injured eye just to be able to see and it is really annoying.  It also seems to get worse as my eyes get tired from trying to focus for long periods of time.

Is this part of the normal healing process?
Since the air is dry and dusty will that slow the healing process?

If you have not seen any improvement from when you posted this I would suggest trying to see an ophthalologist tomorrow

By the time I received your answer I had already gone wild and put $30 of gas in my car leaving me with only $11. My only chance of going to an ophthalologist at all would have been the one at Wal-mart for $35 or finagle another visit to the ER. The initial visit was covered by the local free clinic and I do not expect to have any income at all for another two weeks.

I guess your idea of money being tight is very different from mine.

For anyone else out there - my sight is better. Today the three dots are merging into a cluster and I can use the computer without covering up the injured eye with one hand while I type with the other. I can also recognize faces without winking at people.
It has been two weeks since the injury.
