Can you explain Basement membrane Disorder? Is it in any way linked to Sjogrens? This morning I had erthromycin ointment in my eyes and last pm 1 hour before I put this med in my eye I put the Mura 128 ointment. My eye upon waking was blurred, hurting and dry as could be. I have had problems as I said for at least a year and usually it is same in both eyes but now my Right eye is very bad. Feels like a large object in my eye. Could my eye be resistant to the erythromycin after a year? The doctor did tell me on Friday he ordered eye covers to wear at night???.
Thanks again
When you go in do not let the technicians put any drops or medications in your eye. Ask to see the Eye MD first. Them them your story and that you're concerned about a recurrent corneal erosion or a corneal dystrophy like Basement Membrane Disorder.

Thanks for your answer. I am seeing an MD opthalmologist. I think this is what I have been experiencing very frequently and the cause of my eye hurting and having blurred vision. It starts early in the morning and and my eye just gets so irritated throughout the day. I am looking on the site for a corneal opthamologist and just don't get anywhere. I live in Lexington, SC. I know my doctor Dr. Kanitkar does corneal transplant surgery. For the last year I can't tell you how much this interferes with my every day life. What are the long term side effects from recurrent corneal erosion?. I have follow up every 6 weeks but this visit he finally got to see what I have been describing to him for a year.
I appreciate your help!
Use the search feature and look up "recurrent corneal erosion". That sounds like your problem. Be sure you are seeing an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Ask about using Mura 128 5% hypertonic ointment at night. Avoid sleeping under a fan or heating/cooling vent. If you don't make progress ask for a consult with a corneal Ophthalmologist.
