corneal topography and astigmatism prevention

Posted by Michael on July 31, 1999 at 11:23:28
If the cataract eye surgeon wanted to be extra precise to where he locates his astigmatism correcting clear cornea incision, it seems like a corneal topography & the handheld keratometry & the refractive keratometry (all 3) could be important & useful.  Please enlighten us if possible.  Does corneal topography always have to be overly controversial?  Isn't it usually better to have a little more information than too little especially if one is willing & able to pay for the extra cost involved?
Any constructive answer will be greatly appreciated.

keratometry is a very precise way to measure the central curvature of the cornea-  corneal topography is even more precise- if one is willing to spend the extra money then it cannot hurt and can only help if one had a topography prior to surgery, though it not always necessary. If you are interested we would love to see you here at Henry Ford Eye Care Services.  Simply call 1-800-363-7575 for an appointment.good luck.
