corneal transplant

by mary2izzy, Oct 30, 2008 02:28PM
in August, 2006 my father had a corneal transplant that rejected.  In September, 2007 he had a second
corneal transplant (same eye), which they now say is partly rejected, and want to replace only the
damaged part. How likely is this to be a success ( he is 85 years old.) any help would
be appreciated

Dear mary2izzy,

Since your dad has already had two corneal transplants, he is at a higher risk for rejection of a third.  However, many people can eventually obtain good vision and clear grafts after having rejections. I would speak with his/her corneal specialist to obtain more information.
