corner of eye been very itchy for 5 months

Hi. This has been really bothering me for 5 months now. The inside of the corner of my eye, All Around this little ball i feel by my nose has been extremely itchy and at times after being so itchy all day i will feel this sharp cut feeling. When i put eye drops in the eye sometimes it will cause the same sharp cut feeling. This problem comes and goes but is happening more frequent now and been going on for some time now. It also seems to be making my eye more closed than the other eye when this problem happens.

What do you think could be causing this?

Something is causing irritation in that corner (inner canthal area).  It could be allergies, blepharitis, or other problem.  Go see an ophthalmologist who could evaluate it.  Take all of the over the counter drops you've used for the doctor to see in case you may be allergic to them.
