cross eyed

Just wondering, i'm 66 and my eyes crossed about 2 days ago. They are still crosssed. Everything looks double except when I cover one eye. Either eye that I cover restores normal vision. Should I go see my general Dr or should I go to an opthomologist? Also is this a symptom of a more serious condition?
Thank you.

You should treat this as an emergency and go to an emergency room right now, choose a big one that is likely to have ophthalmology consultatnts. The cause could be stroke, tumor, aneurysm, serious disease, etc.
