decentered or dislocated IOL

If an ophthalmologist tells you an implanted IOL has been dislocated out of the capsular bag, is that considered medically the same as an IOL which  is decentered? I understand that the end result is the same, lack of  visual acuity or poor acuity, but I want to know if the two words are used interchangeably by ophthalmologists.  Bottom line, if an IOL dropped out of a ruptured capsular, is the proper diagnosis a "decentered IOL?  Thanks!

A decentered IOL is still in the capsule, but not completely straight and in the middle. It shifted a little bit from where it was intended to be. An iol that dropped out of a ruptured capsule has subluxated and could be floating around in the bottom of your eye. Generally you can still see with a decentered IOL, although you may have some glare, dysphotopsias, ghosting, less than 20/20 vision etc. A dislocated IOL can be akin to having none visually.
