dermoid of the eye

dermoid of the eye

One of my mono twins has a dermoid of the eye, and my husband and i don't quite understand what exactly it is. We don't know if it will affect her vision. She is only 34 days old. Her and her sister were born at 30 weeks and 1 day old. They are now 34 weeks and 5 days gestation. She is a preemie and has came along way. Is this going to set her back in life? What is some things that we can expect with this? Is this treatable, and if so what are treatments for a dermoid of the eye? It just slightly goes into the iris and is located in her left eye. It covers less than 10 percent of her iris and is not anywhere near the pupil.

A dermoid is an abnormal growth and not a cancer.   The difference in refraction is important  as far as vision is concerned.  She needs to have careful follow up with her pediatric ophthalmologist.
