diffrential diagnosis of unilateral stabbing occular pain

I am a female, 27 years old. I started recently to feel sabbing pain in my right eyeball. The pain looks like it comes from the back of the eye. It has no predisposing factors, but sometimes I feel it is related to sitting fr long hours in front of my computer. I have no other associated symptoms; no red eye, no discharge or any other system disorders. Can you give me a diffrential diagnosis to my case from your own point of view? And do I need to seek an ophthalmologist advice?

Thank you,
Rose

hi there
last 6 months ago after spending long times in front of the screen while studying i.t. i got a bad eye strain. and was sensitive to light and eyes were sore to move and i started having head aches i rested my eyes completly thinking the symptoms would go. i had my eyes tested and they seem fine. but now 6 months on i get bouts ofstabbing pains in both eyes (right eye is worse) they are still sensitive to light even though i dont spend a lot of time on the computer. and i get bouts of lasting pain at the back of my eyes (again right one worse ) i also have some pain around my cheekbone. any ideas what this could be?

Sharp, stabbing pains of very short duration usually generate from the cornea,  pains that is deeper and longer lasting can come from many sources the eye, behind or around the eye or from structures such as the sinus.  You do need to see an ophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org
