dilated left pupil

dilated left pupil

My daughter, who is 20y/o wears contacts. This morning her contacts were dry, but she didn't have her solution, so uses visine instead. Since then her left pupil has been dilated, her vision is a bit blurry. There is no pain no headache, no injuries...what should we do? She is wearing her glasses now , not the contacts.

It's always inpossible to diagnose accurately by internet but it may be possible that the eyedrop had some vasodilator in it which might affect the pupil. Especially if the drop was designed to "whiten" the eye. Suggest you monitor closely and if it doesn't resolve quickly then see an ophthalmologist soon. If she has other significant health problems, then it's more likely that something more unusual or serious is at work.   -RSR  MD
