dilated pupil

I have had a dilated pupil since surgery for retinal detachment 3 months ago. I have been told by opthamologists that this may be permanent, or it may improve over time; likely the sphincter muscles that control pupillary constriction were damaged by all of the laser done during the surgery, or due to a complication from the gas bubble which pushed my newly replaced lens forward of the iris (I had a second surgery to correct this). Has anyone had a dilated pupil after surgery which subsequently returned to normal, or nearly normal? Thanks.
