"dim" vision

by mellaudi, Nov 04, 2007 10:29PM
My 37 year old husband complained of eyes hurting x 3 days.  2 days ago one pupil was 1mm larger than the other.  Today he confessed that one eye sees light correctly, and the other is dimmer.  We're not going to be able to see family medicine until tues.  Any suggestions for us or our MD?  Thanks, worried RN

Yes, I would call an ophthalmologist office Monday morning and ask for an emergency evaluation. They may not be able to do a complete exam with glasses test, etc but at least they can check to be sure that there is not some emergent problem like central retinal artery or central retinal vein occlusion.  Most ophthalmologist leave space daily for work in "emergencies".
