dizziness with headaches and eye problems

Posted by Nae on July 22, 1999 at 10:23:25
I am a 35yr. old female.  For the last year I have had problems with dizziness.  When I am dizzy it always seem that I am in over head lights, light the kind in stores.  I get headaches behind my eyes and every seems very cloudy, spacey.  I wear contacts and they seem very blurry.  I also have a floater in my right eye.  I get dizzy alot at work.  I can be talking to someone and for no reason, I'll get dizzy and start sweating and feel like I'm gonna pass out.  I never really pass out, but the feeling just keeps coming back all day.  Alot of times, I feel like my head is to heavy for my neck.  I have had all the blood tests, had my heart check and had a CAT Scan and everything came out O.K.  I have also been seeing a chiropractic,  which did help the headaches a little.  I am currently taking Meclizine for 2Weeks and it doesn't seem to be helping.  Should I continue taking this?  The doctor said it should help me in a couple days.  But he gave me 3 refills.  A different doctor said it could be anxiety, but I don't understand how it could be. Help, I am misrable.  It also seems that heat brings this on sometimes.  Thank you.

This sound like vertigo and I would expect the meclizine should help.  You may want to see a neurologist or ENT specialist for an evaluation for the dizziness.  There seems to be a problem with your vestibular system or balance system and this is tied in with the visual system somewhat.  I would start with one of these specialists.  Good luck.
