double vision after PPV

by corks100, Oct 27, 2009 04:11PM
I had PPV 2 months ago...with some laser treatment and a gas bubble as well.  My doc said that my retina is attached but that I have a lot of blood in the eye almost 2 weeks ago.  However, the blood started to clear out over a week ago and my vision has started to improve.  I now can see shapes and outlines of objects...medium and larger objects.  I can see color and cars come by....shape of trees and if there is light behind..i can see how many fingers.  But I still cant see far and my vision is still blurry.  this is due to still some blood remaining in my eye.

a few days ago i started having double vision.  I think it is because my PPV eye is tryin to see and accdg to one doc "fusion" is happening to my vision now.

my questions are:
1) how long until this double vision should last?  at what point would it be considered an alert and see a nother specialist again.  I felt the other eye struggling to see but no double vision until a few days ago.  today it is esp hard beca I am getting a headache.

2) doea cold compress help with unclogging the blood in the eye.  it seemed to help when i did it a few times even though my doc said it doesnt help.

Thanks inadvance for your response.  Need help please.

1. Next visit ask your surgeon to see if you have true double vision or if instead you are getting monocular ghosting due to scar within the macular area of the operated eye. If you have true double vision and it does not improve over the next 3-6 months then referral to a strabismus Eye Md might be in order
2. No
