double vision after severe eye trauma

by jamesrav, Apr 15, 2007 12:00AM
Do eye muscles take time to recover after a serious eye trauma?  I'm experiencing double-vision after being attacked and hit repeatedly above the eye - it has been six days and the eyeball is still totally red and has restricted 'tight' movement (although somewhat better every day).  The opthamologist i visited (in Mexico, where this occurred) said there is no eye damage (retina), and i have not felt any pain in the eye area, cheek, etc (no fracture?).  I'm wondering if the eye is somewhat 'out of kilter' and the muscles and eye will eventually return to their normal position.  Or is six days enough time that things should have returned to normal, and this may be permanent?
