double vision

is double vision a common problem after cataract surgery?  Looking to right my husband has double vision after 1st surgery 1-1/2 years ago.  After surgery on second eye nothing has changed.  What can be done to correct this problem.  Doctor seems to have no answers.

See a strabismus specialist.

It's possible that an eye muscle was injured during your husband's first cataract surgery (probably by the local anesthesia injection).  Please follow Dr. O's advice and have your husband see an ophthalmologist who specializes in strabismus (sometimes called a pediatric ophthalmologist, but they see adults, too).

I got double vision for the first time in my life after cataract surgery as did my brother.  The cause for us is Congenital Fourth Nerve Palsy which quite often does not manifest itself until after cataract surgery and is corrected by wearing eyeglasses with prisms.  Mention this to your doctor.  Good Luck.
