An ophthalmologist suggested I take flaxseed oil or flaxseed oil capsules orally as a treatment for my dry eye.
Have you heard of this treatment, and why is it supposed to work? I'm wondering if it has something to do with mucus membranes.

I am not aware of of flaxseed oil so I cannot comment on this.  In general, there are alot of natural remedies out there that have claims for cures or relief but many have not been widely studied.
