duane's syndrome

by Emily2008, Apr 11, 2008 03:37AM
I have duane's syndrome type 1. my left eye is affected, and I have a slight head turn away from the left eye, even though my eye turn towards my nose when I look straight. my doctor dont know why as he says I should have a turn towards the affected eye. does anyone know why is this?
Also, I only have a slight head turn, but I would still want to do the surgery to improve it and my retraction as well. What are the risks?
thanks

Emily

I remember there are different types of duane's syndrome, Types 1,2 and 3.  So it depends on what type you have as what your head turn and eye  movements will be.  Looks up duane's syndrome on e-medicine.  I would prefer not to comment on risks and indications for surgery because a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist will be much more qualified to give you those answers - which depend so much on what your exact findings are.
