eye PVD issies

by ETBOEHM, Oct 14, 2009 10:31AM
IS it more likely than not, that a person over 40 years old that had Lasik surgery for the first time over the age of 40 (43) years old, will develop PVD?  I had perfect vision since Lasik surgery at the age of 43 years old and now at 50 have suddenly developed posterior vitreous detachments in both eyes with a tear in the right eye and multiple floaters in both eyes (now 50 years old).

What do you think?

I read that Lasik over the age of 40 years old is now advised?

Will the PVD condition worsen as time progresses?

You probably had LASIK for myopia.  There is a higher chance of PVD at a lower age in myopes.

LASIK over 40 depends on your prescription and general eye health.

PVD will get better, rarely you will develop a retinal detachment or retinal tear.
