eye condition

I have been seeing a specialist since last of October for my left eye. I have been very sensitive to the light having to wear sunglasses and taking antiboitics and steroids for weeks . There is no improvement, my eye burns, feels as if there is sand in there at times and at times can hardly keep opened. The doctor says hes not sure whats casuing my eye to be so irriatated.  The medicine helps soothe it but it is now going on 7 weeks soon. I heard around here that there is a new eye virus that lasts 6-8 weeks. Have you heard that?
