eye deform

by IndayJuliet, May 17, 2008 12:57PM

I had my pterygium remove on my right eye, done by my first doctor, for almost 2 months now.It was terribly painful...And I have regret so much why I did it...If I only knew that it will hurt that much i shouldnt have done it,,, but too late ..My pterygium was not Big but because Im so uncomforable everytime I look at the mirror and emabarrass to talk to people...So I decided at once to go the eye doctor to remove it...He didnt tell me how is it gonna be after,he only said that it has a posibility to come back again, some have it back after2-3 years or maybe a couple of months later he said....But I seemed not to bother that day,I just listen to my self without thinking of all the consiquences ..3 weeks after the removal, I tried to visit the 2nd doctor which I found out very professional and understand my side and giving me a lot of information which made me feel safe at a moment...He tried to give me one eye drop to control the redness and itchyness, and also ointment that I have to use before bed time....And one month after I went back to my first doctor
and he said i have to stop using the pred forte, and I also stop the ointment...and now im only using the mild eye drop, for redness and itchyness....using it for a couple of days now...but my eye still red and it gets smaller compare to my left eye...I told my first docor and he only said, Maybe(?) its still swolen but it will be healed someday....My question is.....Is this really normal?,,,or is it really still gonna heal?...is not because ive been using to long eye drops and ointment??? Or is it true that the eye where the pterygium has been removed will be getting smaller in size and not go back to the normal size at all???   and is it not good to be infront of the computer 9 hours a day while healing it??

I hope you understand my question I am so worried about it right now......

The computer has nothing to do with how the pterygeum heals.  The biggest complication of pterygeum surgery is reoccuren which can happen in spite of expert surgery and prolonged use of steroids and other drops.

You may need a second operation..
