eye hemmorhage

im  49 year old white man who has had diabetes foraround15 years, but had gastric bypass surgery 2years ago. I am no longer on any meds and my sugarsare normal. The problem, fuor weeks ago, while on the job driving an 18 wheeler,my right eye became blurry andI was seeing spidery vision[ ive had cataric surgery in this eye almost 3 years ago].My eye dr.has been watching this since that day, he says I have a vitreous hemmorhage, and it will drain by itself in time.Do I need surgery  or would it help? Would it be advantagous to wait or try to get a surgeon?

thanks for the response. i had vitreous surgery on 5/24/08 and the dr.found 3 spots where there was seepage still happening. he removed the vetreous gel,and put a strroid shot in th e and also did some laser treatment in the or. ten days later he did more laser in his office wiht a fine laser and another shot of steroid. my question is should i be seeing better yet or is the healing process still too early

Under no circumstances should you be under the "care" of a non-MD, non-physician optometrist (had a O.D. degree after his name). You should be under the care of a MD, physician ophthalmologist. Specifically with this problem I would suggest a Eye MD specializing in retina disease.  Find one at www.aao.org

This is a very serious problem and the first thing is to find out what caused the bleeding. The most common things would be: diabetic proliferative retinopathy, retinal tear, retinal detachment, blockage of the main veins in the eye.

This is VERY important.
