eye irritation and contacts

I had a bout of conjunctivitis 1.5 mos ago, and was prescribed tobramycin drops.  I left my contacts out and got better. I threw away and bought fresh lens solution, case, makeup also.  Now I have tried to wear my contacts again but am getting severe eye irritation and burning.  My eye doctor prescribed Lotremax drops, but these drops have been stinging and irritating my eyes even more.  

   My doctor wants to try Restasis or punctal plugs, but I don't know if I want to do all that just so I can wear contact lenses -- I feel fine when I wear my glasses.  Could I be allergic to the lenses? lens solution?

1. Use the search feature, archives and/or go to Dr. Hagan's blog to read about dry eyes.
2. Dry eyes is one of the most common reasons to stop wearing contacts.
3. It is possible you could be allrgic to lens solution but that's not common any more.
4. Only you can decide if restasis is worth it to try to contnue to wear contacts.
