eye lens replacement to eliminate the use of eye wear?

Lasik is out, the doc says that I will develop cataracts in the future. He said I could have lens replacement, sounds like a lot to go thru to not wear glasses. Would you recommend this approach?

In my opinion it would be best to wait until you do develop cataracts -- you'll need the same procedure then anyway.  Refractive lens exchange (RLE) is what your eye doctor is referring to, and it typically is an optional procedure not covered by insurance.  Cataract surgery, on the other hand, is covered by Medicare and most other private policies.

You should never go into a cataract/IOL operation thinking you will not have to wear glasses. Almost all people do some of the time including multifocal IOL patients that pay a great deal extra.
