eye pain

I woke up thinking something (like sand ) was in my left eye causing a sharp pain, especially when I would blink,
It went away after a few hours of discomfort, but came back the next morning as soon as I opened my eyes.  The same pain, and again nothing in my eye, and after a few hours, it went away again.  But in the afternoon it returned suddenly, (the eye began to water profusely, but only for a few minutes).   The pain lasted 3 hours but has now gone away again. The eye will feel normal, just as if the object were removed.  I am sure nothing is in my eye.  I'm afraid it will come back for a third day. Any Ideas?

Yes if it does see an ophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org
