Dr Hagan,
Thank you for the information. He has f/u appt next week.
The IOP varies from hour to hour with most "normal" people having perhaps a 6-8 point variation between high and low (which varies in time from person to person). In glaucoma patients and glaucoma suspects the IOP can vary over 20 points in a 24 hr period.
In any case a true IOP of 30 is very concerning and a full blown glaucoma work up is indicated: Full medical eye exam, visual fields, gonioscopy, disk photos, OCT of nerve fiber layer, central corneal thickness and close follow up.
