eye sensitivity to light

6 days post laser surgery for glaucoma.  The second day everything was fine, however my doctor had recommended artificial tears for my dry eyes.  I immediately began using it and over medicated, I assume as prior to the usage of the eye drops my eyes were fine.  Do I need to be concerned as my eyes are extremely painful and even exposure indoor lights are extremely painful.  Should i expect my condition to improve?

Well its possible but not likely. Instruments are sterilized after each "dirty" case, hands are washed, rooms are wiped down with disinfective after "dirty" cases.

Good luck

I saw my Ophthalmologist yesterday and upon examination of my eyes he concluded that I have a viral infection in my eyes and said I might have picked it up during my travels.  However, my concern is that I contracted the virus right in the doctor's office.  I will begin using the prescribed drops this evening in hopes of relief for this painful condition.

Thank you for responding.

No nothing you did visually (TV, read, cook) would cause that. Sometimes after laser iridectomy there is inflammation of the iris (iritis) that can cause pain, redness, soreness to touch, sensitivity to light. It often requires steroid cortisone drops for a week or so.i would suggest you call your surgeon tomorrow to discuss a visit to the office very soon to look at your eye.

RE:  Eye sensitivity to light.  Thank you for your comments.  The procedure done was laser iridectomy.  I did not receive any post surgery care instructions.  The following day I returned to my doctor, he examined my eyes and other than slight tearing my eyes were fine.  I returned home and went on as usual.  Watched TV, read, and cooked.  Could these things have resulted in my extreme eye sensitivity now?  Did I strain my eyes?

You cannot over medicate your eyes with artifical tears. It will not hurt, damage the eye or slow healing.
