eye strain after car accident

Posted by Randall Richard on June 14, 1999 at 10:26:08

I was recently in a high impact auto accident. I was wearing a crash helment and never lost consciousness, but I did have the goose egg like feeling on the left and left rear side of my head. The next day, my left eye felt like it had a spec of dirt in it, but under close inspection I was unable to find any debris in my eye. This lead me to beleive that the eye was strained under the high impact crash. I has been a week now, and my eye still feels strained. I am not experiencing flashing or blurred vision and would like to know if the eye can be affected by a sudden stop such as a high impact crash.

Despite wearing a helmet, head injury or indirect eye injuries are possible after such trauma.  Eye strain is a very nonspecific symptom but is still worthy of an eye examination by an ophthalmolgist.
