eye surgery

I recently had eye surgery, I had  some scar tissue removed (membrane peeling) and blood flushed out of my eye because one day I woke up with spider like webs in my vision.  After the surgery I lost all vision in my eye.  A month later we went back in and flushed the eye once again and now a week after that last surgery I have some vision, however the pressure in my eye is high (41).  The doctor instructed me to stop one of the eye drops he prescriped and wants to give it some time.  Why would the pressure be high and shouldn't I be seeing better by now?  I see half of what I saw prior to both the surgeries.

Dear bob211,

I would recommend that you speak with your eyeMD about your questions.  Make sure that the pressure is being controlled.  Seek a second opinion from a retinal specialist if your questions are not being answered.

The pressure might be high if you're a steroid responder and the drop the surgeon took you off of was Prednisolone acetate ophthalmic 1% (brand names PredForte, EconoPred). Or if you've had pneumatic retinopexy this may also cause an IOP increase.
Vision recovery will take some time you just need to be patient.
