eye turning out, looking for a expert advice

by mrhoang, Mar 24, 2008 09:13PM
I have a problem with my eyes turning out.  I am currently 25yr old.  The power in my eyes is -2.00 in the right eye and -1.25 in my left eye and that was about a years ago.   I notice that my left eye was turning out for a couple of years now(started when i was about 20 or 21yrs old).  For some reason in the past 2 yrs, my left eye straightened out and my right eye is turning out now.  I can feel that MOST my focus is on my left eye and the right eye just some what blurs and turn out alittle. When I have a few  drinks of alcohol,  I lose ALL the focus in my right eye and it turns out bad.

Ive been currently patching my left eye for about 2 month now after i looked all ways to fix the problem.  What is the best way I can fix my eye?  what are my options? will my eyes ever both work together and get rid of the lazy eye?

Patching is not helpful or effective therapy in adults. You have intermittent exotrophia. I would strongly advise that you see a strabismus Eye MD ophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org   They are sometimes called Pediatric ophthalmologists.

First off, Thank You so very much for spending some of your own time to explain to me and help me out JOHN.

Wow, I thought patching would fit.  Is there any options I can use to fix my intermittent exotrophia myself?  HOW MUCH do surgery cost around to fix this problem or can it be fixed so i can see with both eyes again?  I know the LASIK ONE or something like that have a special on LASIK like a TWO EYES FOR ONE price, would that work for me or would i have to get a special custom one done on me. I WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH IT WOULD BE SOME I CAN SAVE UP FOR IT.

I'm not in a position to tell you. Start by seeing a strabismus specialist.

These types of quesitons cannot be answered over the web. You must have an exam by an eye MD to have them answered.
