eye twitch

I have noticed my 14 yr. old son recently have a twitch above his right eye.  At times it seems to twitch often.  It doesn't seem to bother him really, just aggravating.  Does he need to get an eye exam or is it nothing to worry about?
Thanks in advance for any help

eye lid twitching is typically nothing to worry about- it is technically called a fasciculation and is the result usually of things like stress, too much caffeine, not enough sleep, etc.  it can last weeks sometimes, but unless your son's eyelid is actually closing ( called blepharospasm ) then i would not worry about it. of course regular eye exams should be part of everyone's health maintenance routine  if u r in michigan we would be happy to see you-  call 800-363-7575      good luck/
