A retinal detachment is an ultra serious problem that can lead to blindness and can get worse quickly. You pay for clothes, food, automobiles, trips, etc. If you have financial resouces you will need to pay for the surgical care as you do for other necessities. If necessary you may need to borrow from family or commercial loan agency.

If you are indigent most metropolitan areas have clinics for the indigent, these are often affiliated with medical schools.

If you are indigent most states have a medicaid program that covers many indigent people.

Clinical trials for retinal detachments are going to be hard to find as not many are done.

Most hospitals and surgeons are willing to set up payment schedules for people that have exhibited financial responsibility in the past.

There are an estimated 10 to 15 million people that could afford insurance but gamble that they won't need it and spend their money on other things. Anyone reading this posting should learn that is not a good gamble.
