eyes Mole in eye

I had an eye exam yesterday. My Dr.( Opthalomist) took a picture of the inside of my eye and he told me that I had a mole in my eye. He had another picture of the eye and he compared them. He took the other picture in 2006 and did not mention it. He had been giving me Bauch and Laumb Moisture Loc eye drops to use with my contacts. I am a teacher. Back around that time there would be times when I was working with math problems or reading that the words would just disappear.
Do you think there is any connection ...He didn't tell me in '06 that I had a mole in my eye. However, yesterday he told me that I do. I was shocked. Is this rare or common? What can I do about it?
I am afraid it will turn into cancer. Please give me some advice or information concerning the information that I just gave to you. Many Thanks!

eye moles (most often choroidal nevus) are very common and very unlikely to turn in to melanomas especially if small, flat and if they do not exhibit growth.

Eye melanomas are among the most slowly growing types of melanoma in the body.

If your Eye MD was worried he/she would have referred you to a retina specialist for special tests (FA, OCT).

I do think though your peace of mind would be better if you would call your eye MD next week and discuss your concerns and ask for some reassurance.
