THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO BE LOOKING FOR POSSIBLE CAUSES. Since its his only good eye and its changed call his surgeon and try and get him in today for an emergency visit.

sir, thanks for your reply.i did contact the surgeon back. he has diagnosed anterior capsular contracture as the cause for mild haziness and difficulty in near vision. has done yag laser capsulotomy today. is this because of negligence on the part of surgeon or its an unavoidable complication?. he said its common in 30 to 40 % patients post cataract.is it so?  and can u tell me will this help him now. sorry sir for bothering u again , bt being a precious eye , i am nervous and scared .pls reply if possible

anterior and posterior capsular contraction and opacification are a normal and unavoidable part of cataract/IOL surgery.  Yesterday I did 7 laser treatments for people with these problems, some of whom I operated on and some other surgeons.

Newer techniques and IOL design has reduced the risk of this problem from 90%+ in the early 80s to about 25-30% now.
