finding difficutly with monovision after cataract surgery

I had cataract surgery on my right eye 5 weeks ago. I asked for monovision as I thought it would be good.
I already had surgery on my left eye 3 years ago. I had my eyes tested a few days ago and it is now:
   Right: Sph:  -0.50,     Cyl: -1.00   Axis: 92   Base:  6/6
   Left : Sph :  -1.75      Cyl : DS                    Base:  6/6
I did not have astimatism before in my right eye till after the surgery.
  Now I find that my eyes are always very tired and under strain and I seem to have a constant mild headache.
The optometrist recommends verifocal lense and assures me that the new vericfoclas should take away my tired and strained feeling. At the moment I wear my old glasses with the left lens at -2 and no lens for my right eye as I have taken the lens out. But my eyes are still tired and strained whether I wear glasses or not. I have not been able to read much except biggish print. I do have a pair of reading glasses but they are not quite correct. However I can read the computer. My eyes are now VERY uncomfortable. Please let me know if my brains will ever get used to the new eyes and whether verifocals will be the answer.

Astigmatism after surgery does not always have a correlation with preop astigmatism.  The post op astigmatism is mostly depend on the cornea.  

I would recommend a toric contact lens for the right eye to correct the astigmatism and myopia and see if this helps your monovision.  I am not familiar with the vericfolas lenses.
