My mum has been getting flashes for few weeks now, she went to eye casualty as she didnt know what it was and it panicked her. The eye specialist gave her a good examination and said all was ok with her eyes and this can sometimes happen with age. She still getting the flashes in the morning when she wakes up. Although shes been told her eyes ok why does she still get the flashes and will this ever go away, the eye specialist said if dont go away come back but how long does she leave this before she goes back.. Mum really worried and shes not going out as much incase it happens when out. Please any advice. Thanks

The most common cause of flashes in the eye that are very short duration is vitreous traction due to Posterior vitreous detachment or PVD. Use the search feature and archives and read the many informative posts about PVD.
