flickering vision and unable to focus in right eye

flickering vision and unable to focus in right eye

I visited my optition in november because I was experiencing intermitted flickering in my right eye which had been happening for 2 months.  It is feels like my peripheral vision is blurred but when I try to focus using my central vision everything is flickering.  There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when this occurs and today it has been constant for nearly 4 hours (typing this with one eye!), I do not have any other symptoms.
I was referred to opthomolgy but I was not having an attack at the time and the doctor concluded it was probably ocular migraines, but I'm just not convinced.
Any help or advice would be greatfully received because it is now affecting my work (I do wear glasses for reading)

Dear oohahh,
Ocular migraines or acephalgic migraines can occur without a headache. They typically last on the order of minutes, not hours. If your symptoms have lasted this long and are this typical, it is time for you to have a second opinion or a recheck with the ophthalmologist. Sometimes neurological issues can cause these symptoms so it may be warranted to receive a MRI of your brain and definitely a Automated Visual Field test to rule out visual field loss. Consider visiting with an ophthalmologist trained in Neuro-ophthalmology. Keep us posted.
