glasses

i am going back to eyeglasses after wearing contacts most of my life for vanity reasons my glasses are fairly thick and was wondering about this new technology in making lenses thinner like high index lenses i was thinking of getting the high index lenses with the anti reflective coating and the change like sunglasses when i go outdoors will this do the trick for me as i do not like wearing thick eyeglasses thank you for your time it is well appreciated
