halos/starburst/glare/floaters

I am 18 years old, and last spring began to notice a faint rainbow colored halo around certain lights.  I quickly forgot about this and did not see them during the entire summer.  Then in October, when putting my contacts in,I experienced intense pain and was unable to wear my contacts.  Again I began to notice the halos, and the became worse, eventually becoming starburs like.  It has worsened to the point where all lights, reflection and glare produce an odd image.  Also, while watching TV, white letters placed on a black background appear nearly double.  I have also noticed that my eyes are quite dry, and when I wake up they are quite bloodshot, and it feels as if there is some sort of film over them, which makes my vision worse.  I have seen my eye docotor numerous times as of late, and the only thing she has found is a slight astigmatism in my left eye, and explains the starburst, double vision as sympotms of discriminate viewing.  However, as of late I have noticed a large amount of floaters in both of my eyes, and when looking at lights at night without my glasses or contacts have noticed a huge amount of smaller floaters falling across the light.  I do use a computer alot during the week, and were my contacts from about 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. 7 days a week.  Thank you very much for any information in adavance.

given new onset floaters i first recommend that u see your EYE MD again to rule out any retinal problems, which floaters can be a sign of. secondly, i would be concerned that your corneas are being damaged by the extensive wear of you lenses.  the starburst effect can be due to corneal problems-  i would consider decreasing your lens wear and getting the lenses evaluated and refit.  good luck.
