help for occular pemphigoid

My 37 year old son has been diagnosed with occular pemphigoid. He is on prednisone and imuran but there seems to be little that is done to help with the constant pain. What else can be done to stop the pain and the progression of this disease? thank you

Hello Bronco4    The most important thing for your son is to be under the care of multiple physician specialists that work together to try and prevent progression and complications of this disease. Your son may be best off seeking care in a Department of Ophthalmology of a nearby medical school. These are some of the specialists he needs: Ophthalmologist (Eye MD), Dermatologist, Rheumatologist or experienced Internist. He may need a Endocrinologist, otolaryngologist, dentist, possibly a gastroenterologist

This is a very complex disease and the cause and treatment are not completely understood. He needs to be under the care of a team of physicians.

You can use the search feature of any internet search engine to read in more detail what is known about this deases.

Good luck.
