help me doc

Hey doc, how ya doing I need help, if you could help me, my left eye is somewhat red inflamed everyday,my right eye is perfectly fine. Can you tell me why it is red and inflamed, it's not too bad but it burns a little. I take eyedrops (Zaditor). but my left eye is still a little red and inflamed. If I can just get rid of it it would be great. thanks!!

Unfortunately there are so many things that can cause red eyes (probably over 20-30 if you start to parse them), that I can't help you much. Zaditor is an excellent allergy drops and if your eyes itch and Zaditor helps then allergy would be a potential cause.

I'm afraid you'll need to make an appointment with an Eye MD physician-ophthalmologist to get proper diagnsis and treatment.

You can find one near you at www.aao.org

Oh sorry I wasn't clear enough, well I don't know why but a while back my eyes used to be really red, I went to the doc and he gave me a steroid called Pred and Zaditor. Now he worked wonders with my eyes but I would just like to see if you could tell me something around the house or something I could use, it's just my left eye and the corner is a little bit inflamed, my right eye is perfectly fine. My left eye sometimes look like a road map lol ya know what I mean. I've tried warm compress' es but it doesn't go away. my condition isn't horrible but I'd like to get rid of it. Thanks for answering

Zaditor is over the counter and okay for long term unsupervised use. Steroids like Pred Forte have multiple side effects and need to be carefully monitored.

Did you see a Eye MD ophthalmologist, a non-physician optometrist or a family doctor/general practioner.  If you saw either of the last two you need to see an Eye MD you can go to www.aao.org and find one near you.

If you saw an Eye MD you should call their office and ask what your diagnosis was. Why is my eye getting red so often? You may have episcleritis which is a non-infectious recurrent inflammation on the surface of the eye. It's sort of like tennis elbow but on the eye instead of in the elbow joint. you may also need to be switched to a milder, safer type of steroid such as FML or Vexol or Alrex.

Read more about episcleritis by pasting this link in your browser  http://www.emedicine.com/OPH/topic641.htm
