hemmorhaging

hemmorhaging

I just found out about 1/2 hr ago, that my 21 year old daughter went for an eye exam.  The Dr. told her she has hemmorhaging around the optic nerve.  I know that she has been having a lot of headaches, and she was hit in the head with a beer bottle about 6 weeks ago.  Could you please tell me what the implications are for hemmorhaging in this area.  I know you can't give me a diagnosis, but an idea of what this is and how serious it is would help me a lot.  The Dr. told her she needs to see another Dr. but what specialist would that be?  I'm very worried about her.  Please help.  Thank you. I hope I am in the right forum?

That description could be caused by several different problems some serious and some not so. Included would be swelling of the optic nerve due to pressure or inflammation, glaucoma, vitreous detachment, trauma, diabetes, choroidal neovacularization. To sort them out she needs to see a MD (doctor of medicine), Eye physician (ophthalmologist).
