how long til macular hole closes
I had macular hole repair 3 weeks ago for a small hole. Yesterday when I saw the doctor she said it hadn't closed yet. Is this common? How long does it take for the hole to completely close? Gas bubble was reabsorbed at 12 days.
My wife had the surgery on 4/01/09 and the hole was about 350um. It closed gradually over a 7 week period...We had weekly visits where we coulsd see it closing. The gas was re-absorbed in about 8-9 weeks.
Thr head down position was absolutely adhered to by my wife for the 7 weeks...This was the Dr's order for a good closure...Keep in mind closure is a relative term in this kind of surgery.I would think if the gas is re-absorbed additional closure would seem doubtful. GL.
