In my opinion weight lifting after a retinal detachment is not a contraindication when it is well healed.

I had Scleral Buckle surgery on my RD 5 years ago from a punch in my eye. I feel fine now and I lift weights everyday for the last 2 years. Will this effect my surgery eye?? Also, I would like to try Boxing but not too sure if it's worth the risk. Please advise. Thanks

I had Scleral buckle 11 years ago from a soccer ball and then i was a boxer and train 15 hours week (I was 17). After 6 months i resume boxing (muay thai) and I still practice it. The surgeon said that my eye was stronger than before, and other doctors said that i have to stop when some others said it's my choice.
I'm now practicing muay thai for 15 years and 6 years in competition (I stop compet 3 years ago because i could not become pro due to my eye) and my eye is still intact. But in thai boxing you take less puches in the head than boxing so it maybe not a good exemple.

I would not advice you to boxe, you have to decide by yourself considering the doctors advices.

Sorry for my English, I'm French
