involuntary rolling eyes

involuntary rolling eyes

My 11yr. old started involuntarily rolling his eyes in Jan.09 and the pediatric optomologist felt that it was allergies so he prescribed a mild steroid eye drop which resolved the problem within a couple of days.  Seven months later in July the problem came back and this time the dr. prescribed the strongest steroid drop and now 4 wks. later the problem is NOT going away. By the way his vision was checked and he has no other health issues.  I've contacted the dr.'s office for other ideas w/no return phone calls.  So because the dr. felt it was an allergy I contacted an allergist but he stated he's never heard of an allergy causing this symptom.  I'm at a loss!! My son is rolling his eyes every 10 to 15 minutes which he's very self-conscious about now that school has started, as well, he complains of eye pain & headaches.  I feel this problem is beyond the pediatrician but I'm not sure who can help us since the optomologist seemed stumped and the allergist stated he'd never heard of such a thing.  Please any ideas/suggestions???

Did your son get better?  Did you get any other diagnosis or information?
My son is having identical symptoms. We are on antibiotica and steroid eye drops.
He had this once before at age 6. It passed quickly. He is now 11. Please provide us with an update
