I drove the day after cataract surgery, with no problems.  I probably could have driven myself home from the surgery center since I had only topical anesthesia, but I certainly wouldn't recommend this.  (You never know in advance how you will be post-surgery.  Sometimes anesthesia may become necessary even if it hasn't been planned.)  In my state, you only need 20/40 vision in one eye to drive.
