iol replacement

iol replacement

Long eye history - born with congenital cataracts (family history clean). Had cataract surgery at age 5 in both eyes, intraocular lens implanted. At age 15, had a capsulatomy surgery in left eye due to unclear vision. Then after a yr, at 16, found retina detached in the left eye. Had surgery, and fixed. Using hard contacts since then for correct vision in both eyes. Far sighted (myopia). Do not need bifocals to read, reading fine.
My question is - Now at age 26, can I go for an IOL replacement? I feel like my vision can be corrected with refractive calculations and IOL replacement, and can be brought closer to 20/20, if not 100%. Again, what are the risks of re-occuring retinal detachments in the left eye, or for the same reason - developing retinal detachment in the right eye. Any other benefits or risks for that matter? Curious since I have quite a bit of a problem with night vision, and I am driving. Right eye works well in bright light situations, and Left in dim light/night.
Appreciative for suggestions.
Thanks.

It would be helpful to know you refraction.  Do you have monovision since you do not need reader?

My contact lens (RGP) corrected visual acuity is 20/30 in the right eye, and 20/40P in left eye. Yes monovision.
On the above note from my question - when the left fundus showed retinal detachment, I was advised to undergo PC IOL explantation with BB with PPV with MP with EL with FGE in the left eye.
After reading the report - I now knew that I do not have iol now (since I had PC IOL explant). Would it be advisable to go for an implant now?
