is it normal for eye -sight to increase in kids?

Hello, My daughter is in 2 grade and she got her eye glasses in 1 grade and the power was -1 in both the eyes. This year when i took her to the eye exam , it has increased to -2 in both the eyes.
I have prescription glasses and use contact lenses.
Is it normal for the power to increase so much in 1 year, i am kind of worried, is there any way i cn control it ?
Please let me know...we take her to the pediatric opthmaologist....

She needs the glasses only for distance.  Not for near such as reading or a computer.

Glasses are to used all time, whether its for near or distant vision, if its not used chances are there glass power might increase (i.e become more -ve) also frequent headaches may come.

Ask your daughter to watch computer/TV by maintaining proper distance ex: atleast 1.5 times the screen size for computer display & 6-8 times the TV screen size.

Ask her to look at distant objects when outing (create in her a curiosity to look at far away trees, birds etc).

Take frequent breaks between reading, watching computer/TV etc

These habits may help to keep the glass power stable or even decrease.

Dr may thought its unnecessary to wear glasses for low distance work as she is having problem with long vision, but the problem is that your daughter may put book too close to eyes while reading as this can progress her glass power, also puts high strain on eyes.

Contact lenses cause problems if not used properly like infections, cornea scratching etc so its better to stick with glasses.
